About the Little White Dog Paperie

Meet Morgan

Hi, I’m Morgan Davidson Erdle, owner and creator of The Little White Dog Paperie, a custom design studio specializing in hand-drawn custom and semi-custom invitations, announcements, stationery and more.

I have been drawing, designing, painting and playing with paper my whole life but finally decided to turn my passion into my profession when, frustrated at not being able to find the invitations I was envisioning for my colorful Southwest wedding, I grabbed my pencil and sketchbook, sat down, and created them myself. The finished product ended up being so much more than an invitation—it was a little work of art that embodied both the spirit of the event and my husband and I as a couple.

Throughout the process of creating my invitations, I was reminded of how natural and satisfying it felt to be working with my hands again, putting my imagination to paper. Though I had always fantasized about creating a business around my artwork, the timing had never seemed quite right…until that moment. Having just left my art museum job to move with my husband to North Carolina, I decided to take the plunge and leave a career in the art world to found The Little White Dog Paperie. Now that I’m back in front of the canvas, I get to do what I love every single day and use my artwork to make life’s special moments—both big and small—that much more magical!

Why custom?

When I established my design studio, one of the most important elements for me was the “custom” component. I am always dreaming up and drawing new designs for invitations and stationery and I certainly offer those creations for semi-custom personalization, however, I also wanted to offer people the experience of having a one-of-a-kind, original work of art designed solely for them. When I take on a custom project, I allow my client’s story to become my inspiration and spend a lot of time thinking deeply about how I can bring that story to paper in a completely unique and personal way. It brings me so much joy to present a client with a custom piece they can treasure for years to come!

My Style

I find inspiration in so many places but chief amongst them is the past. I am a self-confessed lover of all things old and intricate and have both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in art history to prove it. When I design, I strive to fuse old-world ornateness and attention to detail with vibrance and whimsy because I believe you truly can have an aesthetic that is both polished and playful, elegant and exciting!

But what about the little white dog?

The “little white dog” in question is Whistler the West Highland terrier, self-appointed head of the household, clothing thief, and paper-shredder extraordinaire. When he’s not barking at the printer he sometimes lets me sketch him…
